I saw your new album came out today. Your serious face with a teal guitar over your back is exactly what I would have pictured you doing. Such a serious one. I got goosebumps on my arms as I scrolled through the names of all of the tracks. You did it. You achieved your dream. You’re probably still mad at me for leaving you on the cement front steps of your parents’ house in our hometown in the dead of winter. In fact, I am sure I can find an angry track or two about the girl from Cheyenne that tore your life apart. But I hope you know now why I did it. You were a caterpillar that I knew was going to morph into this famous, talented, strong force of life. If I had stayed and nursed your wounds, giving up my own dreams as well, you would not be who you are today-- the person you always wanted(needed) to be. You needed to find your own wings before I could find my own and join you once more. So, if by chance you read some girl’s blog about ‘Almost Everything,’ I hope you reach out. She still loves you. She never stopped.
